ACHIEVEMENTS

RESOURCES

12.000

inhabitants benefit from the ecosystem services provided by these mangroves.

Some of the locals live on $ 1.5 to $ 3 (USD) a day.

BENEFITS FOR THE COMMUNITY

435

families benefited, through incentive programs and capacity building to promote sustainable economic alternatives.

Strengthening of local capacities, special education and promotion of sustainable economic alternatives.

BENEFITS FOR BIODIVERSITY AND CLIMATE

69.027

tons of reduction of the emission of CO2 into the atmosphere, between 2015 and 2018.

Among the key species being monitored are: the neotropical otter (Lontra longicaudis), the Caribbean manatee (Trichechus manatus) and the american crocodile (Crocodylus acutus) and birds.

Adaptation and resilience to the effects of climate change (river and marine floods, coastal erosion, etc.).

COMMITMENT OF THE PRIVATE SECTOR

Support from Apple Inc. and the European Union Alliance between the CVS Corporation, INVEMAR, Fundación Omacha and Conservation International Recognition of the traditional practices of coastal communities, direct beneficiaries of the process.
